One of Dickens most enduringly popular stories is Oliver Twist, an early work published 1837-8. Like many of his later novels, its central theme is the hardship faced by the dispossessed and those of the outside of tolite society. Oliver himself is born in a workhouse and treated cruelly there as was the norm at the time for pauper children, in particular by Bumble, a parish council official or eadle The story follows Oliver as he escapes the workhouse and runs away to London.
Here he receives an education in villainy from the criminal gang of Fagin that includes the brutal thief Bill Sikes, the famous artful Dodger and Nancy, Bill whore. Oliver is rescued by the intervention of a benefactor - Mr Brownlow - but the mysterious Monks gets the gang to kidnap the boy again. Nancy intervenes but is murdered viciously by Sikes after she has showed some redeeming qualities and has discovered Monk sinister intention.
The story closes happily and with justice for Bumble and the cruel Monks who has hidden the truth of Oliver parentage out of malice. Accusations were made that the book glamorised crime (like the ewgate Group of the period) but Dickens wisely disassociated himself from criminal romances. His achievement was in fact in presenting the underworld and problems of poverty to the well-off in a way rarely attempted previously.
How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.
For me,the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary,as the famous saying goes,The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’,he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.
To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’,they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.
Francis Bacon said in his essay,‘Goodness,of all virtues and dignities of the mind,is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it,man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing,no better than a kind of vermin.’

Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens.
Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. He was born in a poor family, but later he became famous and rich. The famous novel ——A Tale of Two Cities is written by him, too.
This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London. Oliver Twist, the hero,is a poor orphan. He lived in a life filled with taunts. Nobody loved him. With visions of his future,he decided to go to London. He thought a new life was ing,but he was wrong,a group of thieves were waiting for him.
The author created a group of bad men.
Fagin,an old man, with a horribly ugly face and red hair, was the head of those thieves. He tried to make Oliver be a criminal.
Bill Sikes was a cruel and evil man in the group. He had a bad temper.
Monks,Oliver’s brother, did bad things to hurt Oliver. He wanted to get the legacies left by his father alone. He paid Fagin to trap Oliver into a life of crime. In fact, they were all afraid of being put into prison and being hanged. They can’t live happily.
Nancy,a poor girl, loved a bad man. She had to help Bill Sikes perpetrate, because she loved him. She had to be loyal to the criminal group, because she loved him. Actually, she was kind. She helped Oliver at the risk of her life. If she hadn’t fell in love with Sikes, she would have a happy ending.
The author showed these ugly things to us,he described an ugly world. But there are more kind people in the novel.
Mr. Brownlow,an old friend of Oliver’s father, took good care of Oliver.
Mrs. Maylie,Harry Maylie’s mother, saved Oliver of his life.
Miss Rose is the aunt of Oliver,in fact.
They all protect Oliver from hurt.
Oliver was unlucky to meet so many evil people, but he was luckier to get help from so many kind people.
In the end of the novel, all the evil people were punished. Oliver got what he should get. Rose married Harry Maylie and they lived happily. All the kind people have a happy ending.
Righteousness can always beat evil. I think this is what the author wants to tell. Although there are many ugly things in the world,we must believe that righteousness can always beat evil.
We must store kindness even though we are in ugly situation. One is poor if he doesn’t have kindness. One is rich if he has kindness. So please store your kindness in your mind.
What’s more, the novel also tells us to be brave. Oliver was brave enough to overe all the problems he had met. No matter how difficult the problem is,we can’t give up,we must try our best to solve it.
From Oliver Twist ,I have learnt a lot .It’s really a good novel.

Learn to love and care Here I am sitting on a couch alone thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens. the resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel but what this aloof society lacks and what I lack deep inside.
These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care. Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth which was carved into my heart deeply. Mr. Brownlow is one such person. the other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves Artful Dodger and Charley Bates and thought naturally it was Oliver who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful he caught Oliver and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy Mr. Brownlow took the injured poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day however Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life.
Searching for a while Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil. Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because forgiveness is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.

Today, I read the work orphan in fog by Charles Dickens, a famous British novelist.
The story tells of an orphan named Oliver. At the age of 9, he was sent to the factory and coffin shop as an apprentice. Finally, he could not bear it. He fled to London and met the Fagin group who lived by stealing and was forced to be a part of it. After all kinds of tribulations, I finally lived a happy life with Grandpa.
There are many impressive characters in the novel, especially Nancy. She is kind-hearted and helpful. Thanks to her help, Oliver was able to escape from the Fagin group. Although she also had hesitation and fear, she finally obeyed her conscience, risked death, and helped the lovely and poor Oliver. Although she died at last, she became the most important character in the novel and left an indelible impression on me.
After reading the novel, my heart is hard to calm for a long time. Oliver as the protagonist of the novel, Shenghua in that era, she was unfortunate, as an orphan, she suffered a lot, compared with her, as a peer of me, how lucky Shenghua in such a comfortable, happy era. So I want to cherish my words now.

First of all, Im sorry that I havent read Dickenss novel. Ive read a tale of two cities. Its also a compressed version. I dont remember it. It is found that the biggest failure of middle school education is to pour the titles of these masterpieces to the students, but not to give them the possibility of reading. Over time, a lot of names and authors have been recorded, but none of the books have been read, and the interest of reading has been reduced. Of course, it has something to do with the students laziness. I am a very lazy person, and I dont like reading foreign novels very much. I always feel that the translated things are wrong again, distortion is the second, and mixed with the translators personal thoughts.
This movie reminds me of a long time ago, probably in high school, watching "les miserables", are very realistic works. The tone of the movie is gray, the most common color, but it will never make people feel tired. Just like the most simple green brick and grey wall in ancient gardens, it cant compare with the red paint gate, but now we can see only the green brick and grey wall, and the red paint gate cant stand the time.
One of the important reasons why I dont like reading foreign novels is that I cant remember the names of the characters, such as tonights Oliver Twist. Read "Oliver Twist", let me be the hero of this book - Oliver. At the same time, he felt disgust and regret for the street criminals in London in the 1830s. Oliver. Tweester was born in a workhouse. Poor boy was orphaned at birth. He was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime, starved, beaten and scolded, and no one ever loved him.

"Oliver twist" is one of the biggest British novelist, Charles Dickens's 1838 novel, is also one of his representative works.

To Regain the Nature of Goodness -- Review of ‘Oliver Twist’ Oliver Twist one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’ is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.
The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist an orphan who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain such as hunger thirst beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief as was written in all the best stories the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them or Rose read to him and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.
How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded. Oliver Twist is a very famous novel written by Dickens, a famous British writer.
Oliver, an orphan, grew up in a poorhouse and has been discriminated against. He escaped to London because he could not bear to be abused. He went into a den of thieves by mistake and was scolded and beaten. I dont know how much he suffered in the process of growing up. Although growing up in such an environment, he has a kind heart. No matter how much he suffers, his determination to do bad things is the biggest. He is blessed and will never forget to thank his benefactor. But the people in the bandit group still did not let him go, and his half brother also wanted to kill him. Olivers fate is tragic, but he was helped by good people to find out his life experience and obtain the heritage. Finally, his fate has been changed and he is expected to become a useful person to the society.
We should also learn from the kind-hearted Brownlow, who helped Oliver with his helping hand. Because of his kindness, Oliver Twist was saved. He made the world lose a bad man and a good man, and kept Oliver away from the dirty world.
In a word, the whole novel is full of twists and turns, which makes people sigh for Oliver Twists life experience, angry for the mean man, moved by the kind Brownlow, and happy for Olivers rebirth. Since its publication more than 100 years ago, Oliver Twist has become a classic work loved by readers all over the world, and I am no exception. Because of this novel, I also began to know Dickens. His novel mainly reflects the bottom life of the British society, which has just passed the poverty relief law.
Orphans are children who have no parents, so they live in orphanages. Today, lets take a look at a book about orphans - Oliver Twist.
The protagonist of this book is a poor orphan. His name is Oliver. His mother died as soon as he was born, so he was taken to the orphanage. But that orphanage is not a good place, because the director there is very bad to the orphans, the orphans hate him. The supervisor also apprenticed Olivier to the coffin shop. In the coffin shop, olifi was abused, so he fled to London. As a result, he was brought into the den by the thief "smart ghost" and was forced to embark on the ship. Fortunately, with the help of Mr. Brownlow and miss Ruth, olife successfully escaped from Fagin and others, and let the police turn over the den. Menx also tells about the life experience of olifi: menx and olifi are actually half brothers. However, olifis father had passed away, and his property was divided between his two sons. Since then, Olivier has lived with Mr. Brownlow······
The author Dickens wrote "Oliver Twist" wonderfully, and the plot is also very dangerous, so it attracts the readers at once, and makes the readers mood change with the plot of the story.
There is always a dark side to life. However, the light will always prevail over the dark, there will be countless "Mr. Brownlow" and "Miss Ruth" to help those in trouble. I also want to learn from them: try my best to help others, and always have a good heart.
Oliver Lester, a little boy, grew up in a poor-house, and oliver twist, an orphan, read notes. At the age of nine, he was apprenticed to a coffin shop, and hunger and humiliation escaped him.On the street, he was found by the pickpocket, and he pulled the thief closer.Later, he was taken in by the kind Mr. Brown luo, but unfortunately he was robbed by the pickpockets and was forced to take part in the robbery. But the relief was that oliver had suffered, but he was reunited with his family, and the bad people were punished.
This is the main content of oliver twist. The great writer dickens used this work to show us the light and ugliness, justice and evil of the 19th century British society. At the same time, it tells people a truth: justice will prevail over evil!
At the beginning, I felt a kind of "cold humor" in the article, and in many cases, the article used a humorous way to satirize the darkness of society. In addition to this way, every character in the novel, dickens does not describe them in the most distinctive language. The good, brave, strong oliver, the kind and beautiful maiden, the amiable old gentleman, the malicious thief, the fierce bandit, the description of each character is vivid.
The author also arranges coincidences. For example, oliver went to the streets with the thief for the first time. The stolen object happened to be the friend of his savior and his deceased father. When he was forced to steal, the thief was exactly his aunt. These things that are unlikely to happen in the real world are cleverly and reasonably ed into the articles to make the plot twists and turns vividly.
After reading this novel, my heart only has two words: moved.Although oliver's childhood was difficult and difficult, he was also lucky because so many good people were helping him. Many of the kind-hearted people in this article did not abandon oliver to the den of thieves, but believed him and helped him from the beginning to the end.
Oliver entered the den several times and was forced to take part in thefts and robberies, but his heart had been good, and he had not been infected by that bad climate.I thought that oliver's self-rejection and "silt and undying" had to do with the help of good samaritans.Their sincere care and care made oliver feel the warmth and love of the world, which led him to fight bravely and resolutely against evil.
Throughout the whole novel, the power of love, the warmth of the world, the message that justice will triumph over evil.It tells people to distinguish between good and evil, to tell people to understand love, to love others, to tell people that there is love, justice and kindness, and to read the book of "oliver twist".
I think I don't have to praise the book earlier, I just want to say that it has taught me a lot of things.

In the novel, though the young Oliver again and again fell for conspiraciesof those hideous thieves, who tried to torture Oliver’s body and poisonedOliver’s heart intensely,he always lived on and tried hard to seek for his ownlife. Then I realized what supported him all through were actually beliefs. Inmost cases, what you believe is what you’ll bee. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you mit to doing, and when you do,your acplishmentswill know no bounds. You control your beliefs and that is how you ultimatelycontrol your life. It’s all dictated by your attitude.
In the final analysis, love and care contain numerous forms, there are loveof forgiveness, love of trust, etc. but they all e from your beliefs in life. When someone tells you he’s deceived you, forgive him anyway, when someone tellsyou what he’s done, trust him anyway, and when you face adversities whilechasing your dreams, think about your beliefs, then what hinders you will bee apiece of cake in no time.
So find out “Olivers” in your life and do as Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Mayliedo: love them and care them, which cost nothing but save much. They enrich thosewho receive, without impoverishing those who give. They can be certain smallestwords or actions, but the memory of them sometimes last forever.
Charles Dickens said:“Love makes the world go around.” These immortal wordshave inspired and will keep on inspiring us to chant the melody of love and tosay the prayer of care forevermore. Let us,therefore, enjoy life and treatother people lovingly. These principles are the roots and foundations of beliefssupporting this article and our mission together.

Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadnefilling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishneof the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens.
The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindneand the wickedneof all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care.
Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.
Mr. Brownlow is one such person.
The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day, however, Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically, they came acroeach other again a few years later. Without hesitation, Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.
Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because forgiveneis our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.

then there are Mrs. Maylie and Rose, Oliver’s other benefactors. Maybe the reason they loved and cared Oliver was not because of forgiveness. In my point of view, it was trust. They had faith in Oliver when he was considered to be a filthy burglar who tried to break the front door of Maylie’s at midnight. But this wasn’t how these two ladies saw the whole thing. They denied Oliver’s crime immediately and listened attentively to Oliver’s own description of his miserable life. They were deeply touched by Oliver’s strong perseverance and astonishing vitality.
Accordingly, they remedied Oliver’s body and heart and turned him into adifferent boy. He began to wear appropriate and clean suits which were tailor-made for him and receive education.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse.
While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end.
One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons.
Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.
