　　Thank you very much!非常感謝！在接下來的時間里，我將和大家一起分享一下學英語的苦辣酸甜。最主要的，是想通過我在北大六年教學經歷、美國六年生活經歷、“新東方”六年教學經歷，來和大家交流一下怎能樣盡快的提高大家的listeing and speaking comprehensions.

　　我的經歷具體是這樣的：我是1980年從內蒙古考到北大的，比大家高了好多屆。我在北大學英文，然后又在北大教書。教書六年之后，在1990年，我求學到美國。我發(fā)現(xiàn)到了，美國一下飛機，我一句話也聽不懂。當時我想，至少我學了幾年英文，所以打算繼續(xù)學英文。正在我在考慮到哪里去的時候，我聽到一種說法，叫做everybody in American can speak English。那么我又怎么能夠在美國賺錢呢？所以，我必須改變這個想法。于是我該學了學計算機。計算機碩士畢業(yè)以后，我在美國的貝爾實驗室做了兩年的軟件工程師。在1995年，“新東方”的創(chuàng)始人俞敏洪來到了美國，在他的建議下，我有回國，開始參加“新東方”的創(chuàng)建。我和俞敏洪在北大是同班同學——“新東方”的五個“創(chuàng)業(yè)元老”里有三個是北大的同學。除了我們兩個還有一個是“新東方”的圖書總策劃包凡一老師，他是“新東方”的寫作專家。我在大學時代是他們的班長，他們兩個當時是全班最落后的學生。我那時的主要精力和時間都花在每天晚上陪他們兩個在湖畔散步，勸

　　他們不要跳下去。我告訴他們說：“你們將來一定會成才的�！钡搅�96年，我在新東方擔任副校長的時候，有一個大學生就問我說：“王老師，你上大學時四年都是他們的班長，你現(xiàn)在卻是他們的副校長，你的心理平衡怎么找？”我說：“不用找，我現(xiàn)在心理是最平衡的。我當初當班長最大的夙愿就是幫助這兩個后進青年成才。今天看到他們已經紛紛成才了，我的夙愿已經了了。平衡徹底找到了�！薄�—我們的確都要找到一個平衡的方法，只有心態(tài)平衡下來，你才能夠干成偉大的事業(yè)。

　　在美國的時候我學計算機之前，還有一段小插曲。那就是我險些報考了哈佛的人力學系。我離開北大之后，吸引我的學校只有兩所，一所是英國的牛津大學，就是Oxford University；另一所呢就是Harvard University。那時候，哈佛大學人力學系的系主任，對我進行了面試之后覺得可以錄取我，并且提出可以給我提供五年的Scholarship。他說：“你只要答應我一個條件，”我說：“什么條件？”——這個教授研究的是非常偏的一個科目，所以招生好多年都沒有找到一個合適的學生。他是在人力學系研究中國文化中苗族文化的。——他說：“只要你跟我學苗語，我就給你獎學金�！蔽艺f：“可以�！钡�是，我冷靜下來之后想：我拿了這些錢，在五年之內，過的是天上人間的日子。就算不能從哈佛大學畢業(yè)，也能夠肄業(yè)。將來至少能夠跟孫子夸口說，爺爺當年進過哈佛。但是這還不行，因為我拿到這個學位，最終的目的是要找個飯碗。我就考慮，在北美這樣大片的土地上，有多少地方需要我這樣的人才呢？——苗族文化專家。通過“研究”，我發(fā)現(xiàn)，全北美只有一個地方需要，就是哈佛大學、人力學系、這位老師。所以，如果全北美只有一個機會，他的目標里只有我一個人，那么這個機會對我來說是百分之百的！但是，五年之后，我仍然處于一個非常劣勢的地位。我如果能在哈佛大學拿到學位，接下來的夢想就是當上哈佛大學的教授、終身教授。美國大學關于終身教授的規(guī)定：只要這個教授不去世，你就別想替代他。我想，萬一我六十歲就“夭折“了，那位教授八十多歲還健在，我也還是助教。想到這兒，我就對那位教授說：“I want to learn something different�！�

　　當時是1990年，計算機在美國變得popular。而且招生的指標還有70個，我覺得這是個attract opportunity，于是決定學計算機。如果學計算機，我就可以成為一個“計算機科學家”，就可以make money。但當時，我已經十年沒摸過數學了，計算機也從來沒有接觸過。我想，我能不能學計算機呢？我用亞里士多德的“三段論”來推導這個問題：計算機是人發(fā)明的東西，凡是人都應該懂人發(fā)明的東西。最后，如果我學不了計算機，我就不是人。得出這個結論之后，我就要做一些實際的調查，看一看計算機到底是什么。我到了紐約最大的書店，看看計算機架上到底有些什么書。其中有兩架書，

　　上面都有兩個共同的詞，這兩個詞深深地吸引了我，那就是programming languages。我看見的其實只有一個詞：languages。這個詞說明我與計算機是有關系的——我想，漢語是一種language，英文是我的first foreign language，法語是我的二外語，德語是第三外語。這個“編程語言”與我所會的這四門語言一定有共同的地方，所以才能一樣叫語言。于是，我就挑了一本書，看自己能不能讀懂，結果發(fā)現(xiàn)沒有一頁讀懂的。但是我發(fā)現(xiàn)了編程中很重要的一樣東西，是邏輯流程。我就靠這兩點——語言和邏輯，和紐約州立大學計算機系的系主任約會，說：“我是一個非常優(yōu)秀的人才，你必須錄取我�！彼�看了我的成績單以后，說：“可是，你在北大學習的四年中，沒有一門課程與教學和計算機有關�！蔽艺f：“請等一下，我給你陳述一下你為什么必須要我——哈佛大學正在在考慮錄取我呢！另外，我有三點非常強的優(yōu)勢。第一，計算機與其他機器相比最重要的特點是它能安裝軟件，那么什么是軟件呢？”他說：“programs �！蔽矣謫枺骸澳敲次覀冇檬裁磥韺戇@個programs呢？”他說：“l(fā)anguage。”我說：“那你再看看我的成線單，最重要的.一個詞是什么？”老師說：“l(fā)anguage�！蔽艺f：“我已經掌握了四門語言，再學一門方言是易如反掌�！苯淌谡f：“有道理�！比缓笪矣终f：“計算機能夠工作，它離不開人預設的邏輯。我在北大做了六年老師，做老師最大的特點就是訓練一個人的邏輯思維結構。我已經

　　完成了作為一個計算機工作者最基本的訓練。第三點，我是搞English的，受到的是想象力的訓練。想象力，冠以科學術語就是抽象能力、能夠把復雜的東西變成簡單的問題的能力。這三點加起來，我足以和這些學計算機的本科學生抗衡了�！彼�說：“very interesting！你可以把你剛才說的東西寫成論文來發(fā)表。”我說：“我今天來的目的不是要寫文章，是要求你錄取我�！彼�說：“好！”我就這樣被錄取了。當然，此后的學習過程是暗無天日的，但我還是堅持下來了。我用了半年時間補習了美國大學計算機本科四年的所有主干課程，以全A的成績進入了碩士研究生的學習。然后用兩年讀完了碩士課程，在畢業(yè)的前夕又非常幸運地進入了美國最好的計算機公司——貝爾實驗室。，這時的我沉浸在一個中產階級的生活里，一個科學工作者成功的興奮里。

　　We Are The World ,We Are The Future

　　Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

　　We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. It’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. It’s the matter of the will. It’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.

　　A poet said “To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. Several days ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. I’d like to share it with all of you. Let’s show our right palms. We can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life. What about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, let’s make a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tell me.Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

　　We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can go better itself.Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. From the past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. We’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. Failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. Failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.

　　As what I said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. The past has gone. Nothing we do will change it. But the future is in front of us. Believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. 　　下面我談一下，我競聘英語教師的幾個優(yōu)勢和條件：

　　1。有良好的師德

　　從選擇教師這門職業(yè)的第一天起，我最大的心愿就是做一名受學生歡迎的好老師，為了這個心愿，我一直在不懈努力著。要求自己做到牢固掌握本學科的基本理論知識。

　　熟悉相關學科的文化知識，不斷更新知識結構，精通業(yè)務，精心施教，把握好教學的難點重點，認真探索教學規(guī)律，鉆研教學藝術，努力形成自己的教學特色。我的教學風格和教學效果普遍受到學生的.認可和歡迎。

　　以上所述情況，是我競聘英語教師的優(yōu)勢條件，假如我有幸競聘上崗，這些優(yōu)勢條件將有助于我更好的開展英語教學工作。

　　如果我有幸競聘成功，能擔任三四年級英語教師的話，我將從以下方面開展工作。
